A Letter to Residents from the Supervisor, Police Chief, and Fire Chief

On behalf of the Bloomfield Township Police and Fire Departments, we want to thank our community for supporting the Public Safety Bond. Its passage marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for both departments and will allow us to better serve this community for generations to come.

The new facilities will help us address several priorities identified by our residents and businesses in the Township's Strategic Plan, including maintaining high-quality public safety services, investing in Township infrastructure, and planning. These buildings are more than replacing aging facilities. They are about providing our police officers, firefighters, dispatchers, and civilian staff with the space, equipment, and resources they need to serve our community safely and effectively now and in the future.

Thank you to everyone who sent emails, asked tough questions, toured our facilities, and took the time to understand our needs. And thank you to those who spoke up in support of public safety. From the beginning, we wanted to be open and honest about the limitations of our current buildings and why improvements were necessary. Your willingness to listen, ask questions, and be part of that conversation meant a great deal to us.

The bond passed, but we recognize that not everyone supported it.  Elections are about choices on what direction to take, but leadership is a commitment to all residents. We remain committed to serving everyone and take the responsibility of managing this investment very seriously. We will keep our residents informed as these projects move forward with updates on social media and the Township website.

Your continued support, through operating millages and now this bond, allows us to recruit, hire, and retain dedicated police officers, firefighters, dispatchers, and civilian staff. Delivering a state-of-the-art facilities means accommodating female staff, consolidating 911 equipment, incorporating clean-station designs, privacy for victims, and so much more that adds up to public safety work all our residents expect.

We don't take that support or the trust you've placed in us for granted.

Thank you for your support and for the opportunity to serve your community.

Mike McCready, Supervisor
James Gallagher, Police Chief
John LeRoy, Fire Chief
